All’s well. Garage is full again.

solenoidSo last week I was without Raven the whole week.  I waited for the phone call from the shop that would tell me what was wrong and what steps would need to be taken to get her running again.  Well, they called me on Tuesday, said they had found the issue and were waiting on a part to be delivered.  They said it would be ready on the 26th (last Friday.)  As I had no way of getting to the shop on the 26th, I said I would be over first thing on Saturday.

Oh so sick!

So, long story short, Raven is in the shop right now with a burnt starter solenoid.  While not 100% sure on the cause, I have a good idea the starter switch got stuck on.  It is the only thing I can think of that would have done that to a 6 month old motorcycle.  On the bad side, I wasted a free afternoon stuck on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck to haul her to the shop.  On the good side, she will be fixed and well again and the recall replacement of the dash is completed.  Frustrating, but better it happened in town rather than somewhere in the depths of the back roads of the state.  I am still waiting on the call to go pick her up, but they are only waiting on the parts, so it should be any day now.  I am hoping it will be before next Thursday, when I have her scheduled for a new front tire.  At least it is under warranty.

New Riding Jacket

Posted on Updated on

klim_latitude_jacket_frontA few months ago, I got the Klim Latitude Misano Riding Pants.  They are awesome, and the review is here: It’s Getting Real! ADV Riding Pants.  Well, I just picked up the matching Klim Latitude Misano Riding Jacket.  It is even more awesome.  Like the pants, it is waterproof, has good abrasion point armor in the elbows, shoulders and back.  There are vents in the arms, larger vents in the underarm area and across the back of the jacket.  There are so many features that I don’t think I will bother listing them all, and just link to the Revzilla page.  On the + side, I was able to save nearly $200 as the current model is at the end of the cycle.  Klim Latitude Misano Jacket.

Rabbit Hash, KY and Beyond

RabbitHashSo, with the Ren Fair going on every weekend, my riding time has been brought to nearly 0.  While I have commuted when I could, ridden after work, I have been wanting to get out and ride for the day.  So, since Memorial Day Weekend, I have not been out for a full day yet.  My first time will actually be on Friday, July 3.  So, in preparation for that, I have gone ahead and planned a route to take that will take a good portion of the day: 9:30 AM until 7:00 PM.  I plan on going to a couple popular spots for bikers as well as a small brewery in a small town in Indiana.  My plans are the following.  Louisville to Rabbit Hash to Auroura to Madison to Louisville.  The planned route is right at 220 miles round trip and it will take a total of 6 hours ride time.  Each stop is planned out for 1 hours, but plans can, and do, change.

Missing the open roads…

Well, I realize it has been a while since I have posted anything. Unfortunately, I have not had much seat time since Memorial Day weekend. I have been working a Renaissance Festival in Eminence, KY. It runs for 6 weekends (started the weekend after Memorial Day) and we just finished the 2nd weekend. 4 more to go, then I will be out to AMA Vintage Days in Ohio and then on to other roads not yet planned.

Withdraw!

Aside Posted on

Yep, it has been over a week since I have been out riding anywhere.  And I have missed it.  So much, that last night I went to Two-Stroke Tuesday at the Barrett Bar, and have ridden into work today so I can hit LouVin Bike Nite at the Barrett Bar tonight.  Unfortunately with the RenFair in full swing for the next 5 weekends, my riding time will be somewhat limited.  It is so much fun being on that bike, I really felt like I was being tortured not riding this past weekend.
