Week+ Trip
Horizons Unlimited, Stecoah, NC – 2016
This year I headed out on Wednesday, October 5 at just after 8:00 am for Iron Horse Lodge in Stecoah, NC. It was a 310 mile trip down via US27 and a few others, including the famous roads of US129 (Tail of the Dragon) and US28 (Moonshiner28). I arrived after an uneventful trip at 3:15, give or take. Wednesday night was pretty easy going, with not a whole lot going on. It was nice to relax a bit after a pretty long, non-stop ride.
Horizons Unlimited Fall Meet 2015
From October 7 thru October 11 I went to Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge in Stecoah, NC. It is located in prime motorcycle riding country with 3 famous and major routes; Cherohala Skyway, Moonshine Run and Tail of the Dragon. This is a trip I have had planed for over 9 months, and one I have had the hardest time waiting to arrive. The trip down was going to be along US60, 127, 27, 95, 129 and 28. 129 is the Tail of the Dragon and 28 is Moonshine Run. So my route down, before the weekend even starts, includes the Tail of the Dragon and Moonshine Run. Two of the three off the bucket list already. Lets just say, hitting these roads fully loaded, was not exactly what I wanted to do, but hey, may as well go all the way.

Day 0 – Tuesday:
Here we are, the day before I head out, 24 hours, to be exact. The bags are packed and the money spent. All that has to happen is to get on the bike and ride. I will be staying at Black Bear Resort in Hampton, TN from Wednesday night until Sunday morning. The ride in and out will be nearly 8 hours, 340+ miles, each way. While I am a bit nervous about the long trip solo, I am more excited. Raven is checked up and ready to go, so I need to make myself ready as well.
